Wattle Court
A house folded around a shared court, so every room opens onto it.
Three generations, two dogs and one narrow block. The brief was short: room for everyone, and somewhere to be together.
Instead of a back garden, the house wraps a central court. Bedrooms, kitchen and studio each have their own door onto it, and the dogs get a loop.
From the street it gives little away: a timber screen over the stair and a black wall. Everything opens inward, and for eight months of the year the court is the family’s living room.
